Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about preserving your Snapchat memories before the September 2026 deadline.

September 2026 Deadline

Why do I need to act before September 2026?
Snapchat has announced they will delete all cloud-stored Memories on September 1, 2026. After this date, any memories you haven't downloaded will be permanently lost. This is not a rumor — it's an official policy change. Our service helps you preserve your memories with their original dates intact before the deadline.
What happens to my memories after September 1, 2026?
Any Snapchat Memories stored in the cloud that you haven't exported will be permanently deleted. Snapchat will not be able to recover them. This includes photos, videos, stories, and any other content saved to Memories.
How much time do I have?
The countdown on our homepage shows exactly how much time remains. We recommend acting soon rather than waiting until the last minute, as Snapchat's data export process takes 24-48 hours, and there may be a rush of users near the deadline.
Will Snapchat extend the deadline?
As of now, Snapchat has not indicated any plans to extend the September 1, 2026 deadline. We recommend treating this as a firm deadline and exporting your memories as soon as possible.

About SnapSavior

What does SnapSavior do?
SnapSavior takes your Snapchat data export (which is a confusing mess of files) and transforms it into properly organized photos and videos. We merge overlay files (captions, stickers, filters) back onto your base images, embed the original capture dates and GPS locations into file metadata, and organize everything chronologically.
Why can't I just use Snapchat's export directly?
Snapchat's data export gives you: (1) Base images and overlay files as SEPARATE files that need manual merging, (2) Random file names with no dates, (3) JSON metadata files instead of embedded EXIF data, (4) Files scattered across confusing folder structures. With thousands of memories, manually fixing this would take hundreds of hours.
Will my memories look exactly like they did in Snapchat?
Yes! We automatically merge the base image with any overlays (captions, stickers, drawings, filters) to recreate your snap exactly as you remember it. The final result looks just like what you saw in Snapchat.
How long does processing take?
Most uploads are processed within minutes, depending on the number of memories. Larger exports (10,000+ memories) may take up to an hour. You'll receive a notification when your memories are ready.
Can I use SnapSavior with multiple Snapchat accounts?
No. Each SnapSavior purchase is tied to a single Snapchat account. If you have multiple accounts, you'll need to make separate purchases for each one.
Can I upload multiple times?
Each account is limited to one Snapchat data upload. This policy helps us keep the service affordable and prevents account sharing. Within your single upload, you can process unlimited memories and export to unlimited destinations. If your upload fails due to technical issues, you may be automatically granted a re-upload. For other circumstances, contact our support team.

Snapchat Data Export

How do I request my data from Snapchat?
Open Snapchat, go to Settings > My Data > Submit Request. Snapchat will email you a download link within 24-48 hours. Download the ZIP file (don't unzip it) and upload it directly to SnapSavior. Check our tutorial page for detailed step-by-step instructions.
How long does Snapchat take to prepare my data?
Snapchat typically prepares your data within 24-48 hours after you submit a request. Larger accounts with many years of memories may take slightly longer. You'll receive an email when it's ready.
What's included in the Snapchat data export?
The export includes all your saved Memories (photos and videos), Stories you've saved, Spotlight submissions, and metadata about when each item was created.
Do I need to unzip the file before uploading?
No! Upload the ZIP file directly without unzipping it. Our system handles the extraction and processing automatically.

Privacy & Security

Is my data safe with SnapSavior?
Absolutely. Your data is encrypted during upload (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). We process your files on secure servers and automatically delete all uploaded data within 30 days (or 7 days after your first export). We never share, sell, or use your data for any purpose other than processing your memories.
Who can see my memories?
Only you. Your memories are processed automatically by our system — no human ever views your content. Your files are isolated and only accessible through your authenticated account.
How long do you keep my data?
Your processed memories are stored for 30 days after processing, or 7 days after your first export (whichever comes first). After that, they are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers. You can export unlimited times during this window, and you can also manually delete your data at any time from your dashboard.
Do you store my Snapchat login credentials?
No. We never ask for or store your Snapchat username or password. You request your data directly from Snapchat through their official process, then upload the resulting ZIP file to us.

Technical Questions

What file formats do you support?
We support all photo and video formats that Snapchat exports, including JPEG, PNG, MP4, and MOV. The exported files maintain their original quality — we never compress or reduce quality.
Will my photos show the correct date and location in my camera roll?
Yes! We embed the original capture date and GPS coordinates into the EXIF metadata of each file. When you import to Google Photos, Apple Photos, or any other photo app, they'll appear on the correct date in your timeline and show up on the map view if location data was available.
Can I export to Google Photos?
Yes! You can export directly to Google Drive with one click. From there, you can easily import your memories into Google Photos. The embedded date metadata ensures photos appear in the correct chronological order.
Do you support videos?
Yes, we fully support videos. Video timestamps and GPS locations are preserved just like photos, and any overlays on videos are merged correctly.
Is there a limit to how many memories I can process?
No! Your $7 payment covers unlimited memories. Whether you have 100 or 100,000 memories, the price is the same.
What browsers do you support?
SnapSavior works on all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend using the latest version of your browser for the best experience.
Why does SnapSavior show a different memory count than Snapchat?
SnapSavior counts all items in your Snapchat data export, which may include more than just your Memories. Your export can contain, saved Stories, and Spotlight submissions in addition to regular Memories. Snapchat's in-app count typically only shows items in your main Memories section. The difference is usually small (around 1-2%) and means you're getting everything from your export preserved.
